{"id":77,"date":"2006-02-26T10:46:42","date_gmt":"2006-02-26T10:46:42","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2015-01-28T11:43:27","modified_gmt":"2015-01-28T11:43:27","slug":"lego_difference_machine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.snoopdos.com\/blog\/lego_difference_machine\/","title":{"rendered":"Lego Difference Machine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the Useless But Cool dept: Andrew Carol (no <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocketfm.org.uk\/presenters\/index.html#carroll\">relation<\/a>) has built a <a href=\"http:\/\/acarol.woz.org\/\">Lego Difference Engine<\/a> in the fashion of Charles Babbage&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Difference_engine\">original<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Due to structural limitations of Lego (plastic bricks and gears can&#8217;t handle the same stresses as metal), it&#8217;s a cut down version but still functional. Very cool.<\/p>\n<p>And on the subject of Lego, if you&#8217;ve been playing with Lego Mindstorms (Lego&#8217;s robotic kits), Lego have just announced <a href=\"http:\/\/mindstorms.lego.com\/\">Mindstorms NXT<\/a>, the next generation &#8211; with a 32-bit RISC processor and a number of other significant improvements.
